Vonnyborq Construction Limited is one of the partners in the DrainUpGrader project. The company has undertaken many challenging projects and accumulated skills, knowhow and experiences in design-build solutions, project management services, building trades and related engineering works. They have offered to provide NETICS with local support and in the execution of the pilot project.

Vonnyborq performs the role of main contractor for small to medium size projects in Ghana. These projects also include the construction of concrete drains. On 8 September 2021, NETICS visited one of the drain construction projects of Vonnyborq. An interesting aspect were the smaller ‘tertiary drains’ flowing into the main drain. These man-made gullies were full of waste and are far from erosion resistant. An opening in the larger drain was made for water to flow from this smaller gully into the larger concrete drain.

These smaller drains flowing into the larger concrete drains are the focus area of the DrainUpGrader solution. We want to create affordable and erosion resistant tertiary drains with the DrainUpGrader in these kind of projects. For now, we are looking forward to performing a pilot project in Accra together with Vonnyborq to test this solution.
