Assembling the first DrainUpGrader prototype

We have reached an important milestone in the development of the DrainUpGrader: Putting together the key components of the DrainUpGrader prototype! The prototype consists of three key components: a steel structure (designed and developed by NETICS), a mixing device and a vibration / compression component.

The steel structure of this first prototype has been put together at our workplace: The steel plates were welded together based on our design drawings, lifting / pulling tow hooks were installed and a superstructure was added.

After the construction of the steel structure, a mixing device was placed on top of the steel structure. For the selection of this mixing device, a list of requirements was set-up. In the selection process, a comparison was made between several options which were available in the market, and based on the requirements a selection was made.

A vibrating / compressing component has been selected based on engineering calculations. This component will be installed shortly, also on the steel structure. After all three components are put together, the prototype will be coated to protect it against corrosion.

Within a few weeks, the electrical connections will also be added, after which the prototype will be ready for its first test rounds. These tests will be performed at our test facility at the yard of our partner Van Oord in Zuilichem. We are looking forward to these first tests in the field!
