Design sprint Driving Mould

In the morning of the 16th of October 2020, NETICS specialists, together with IHC Mining and IHC MTI equipment specialists, had a design sprint regarding the Driving Mould of the DrainUpGrader.

The creative session resulted in several design alternatives for the Driving Mould of the DrainUpGrader. The first part of the session was focussed on diverging: what are all different aspects of a Driving Mould.

The second part of the session was focussed on converging: What are feasible designs for the Driving Mould. The selected designs will be tested in the laboratory.

The Driving Mould is pulled through the soil, similar to a plough. The surrounding material will be compacted by vibrations. This method was selected over for instance a rolling weight because of its flexibility, dimensions, and its ability to transfer large forces to the soil.
