Palm kernel shells as a binder!

In the search for a locally available binder for an erosion resistant drain, we have discovered palm kernel shells. The palm kernel shell is a waste product from the Ghanaian industry, and can be used as pozzolan.

Research has shown that this pozzolan can replace up to 40% of the cement!

At the moment, the annual production of pozzolan in Ghana is 10,000 tonnes. This makes the palm kernel shell the perfect candidate in our recipe to stabilise local soil to create an erosion resistant drain!
